In the sermon we looked at this passage under 4 different headings.
As a group take a look at these headings afresh - try not just to regurgitate the sermon J but go deeper and broader and look at how these thing apply to us today.

1. Verses 1-3 Never be Content in the wrong thing
2. Verses 4-6 I’m all Right, Jack is not all right!
3. Verses 7-10 God Dictates; Not You
4. Verses 11-14 Morality Is Important to God

Single, Married, Divorced, Sex and all that stuff!

Reading: 1 Corinthians 7

Using the passage, the sermon, your experience and the guidance of The Holy Spirit, spend some time discussing the following areas (ideally get the questions and discussion coming from all members of the group, and remember these are some hard issues foe some):

1. Marriage – for example: when is it right and when might it be wrong, should a Christian marry someone who’s not, what about sex?
2. Singleness – for example: people could be ‘single’ at various points in their life or for the whole of their lives, what does scripture teach about these? How does society view singleness and celibacy?
3. Divorce – Pastor outlined New Connexions understanding of scriptures teaching on this, what is it, how do you feel about it, does it reflect scripture?
4. What should someone do when they become a Christian, after they marry a non-Christian?
5. How should a bible believing church deal with the sensitive issue of homosexuality (based on what scripture teaches)?
6. What are the implications of all the above on the way we should care and support one another?

Reading: John 19:1-16


Read question 7 and keep that in mind as you run through the first 5 questions.

1. How many trials had Jesus had, who were they with and what were the individual 'Judges' positions - who held the real authority?
2. What did Pilate hope to achieve by having Jesus scourged? Describe scourging, and discuss the other nasty things the soldiers did to Jesus. V. 1-3
3. What was Pilate more afraid of and why?
4. V.8Why did Pilate question Jesus again?
5. How many times is Jesus declared "not guilty"?
6. What does Verse 11 mean, who is 'the one' and how is one sin greater than another?
7. There is some interesting fact and history here, but what is there in this passage that we can apply to our lives today?

Reading: John 14: 1-6

1. What does Jesus mean by don't let your hearts be troubled?  What does it mean to trust in God and to trust in Jesus? Is it that Jesus is less than God? (answer in sermon...)
2. Discuss verses 2-4, what does Jesus mean my Father's house? How big is it?
3. What can we know about heaven from the bible? (Revelation 21)
4. How did Thomas respond? Why didn’t he know where Jesus was going? What did Jesus teach him and us about the way to God?
5. Why is Jesus the only way? (John 1:18; Acts 4:12; 1 Tim 2:5,6), what about other faiths...?
6. What does it mean that Jesus is The truth? (Jn 18:37; Jn 1:14; Ro 1:18-20, 25)
7. What does it mean that Jesus is The life? (See John 1:4; 5:24; 20:31)
